Cittàgazze mesmerize on audio-visual masterpiece, "Like Grass"
Continuing their hot streak over the past year, Cittàgazze has made a triumphant return in releasing a fantastic new track titled “Like Grass”. Hypnotizing from start to finish, keep reading as we break down our thoughts on the single, as well as take a closer look into the band.
Cittàgazze’s latest single “Like Grass” is a musical time machine that takes us back to the golden age of indie new wave music. The Shoegaze, LoFi, and Dreampop group from Mobile, Alabama has managed to capture the essence of 80s indie bands like The Cure, The Smiths, New Order, and so many more all the while and add their own unique twist to it. We thoroughly enjoyed their debut record Stokes’ Aster that was shared last year, but thankfully the group is back and literally better than ever.
The track opens with a mesmerizing drum riff that instantly sets the tone for the rest of the song. The dreamy vocals add a layer of nostalgia, transporting the listener back to the heyday of the mid-2010’s. The intricate drumming and bassline add a steady rhythm to the track that keeps the listener hooked too. Says the band, “Like Grass” is reminiscent of the Captured Tracks era of the 2010s with bands like Wild Nothing and Diiv, yet they still continue to infuse these flourishments that bring it into a modern era. Cittàgazze has added their own spin to the genre and created a sound that is uniquely theirs.
