Cittàgazze mesmerize on audio-visual masterpiece, "Like Grass"

Continuing their hot streak over the past year, Cittàgazze has made a triumphant return in releasing a fantastic new track titled “Like Grass”. Hypnotizing from start to finish, keep reading as we break down our thoughts on the single, as well as take a closer look into the band.

Cittàgazze’s latest single “Like Grass” is a musical time machine that takes us back to the golden age of indie new wave music. The Shoegaze, LoFi, and Dreampop group from Mobile, Alabama has managed to capture the essence of 80s indie bands like The Cure, The Smiths, New Order, and so many more all the while and add their own unique twist to it. We thoroughly enjoyed their debut record Stokes’ Aster that was shared last year, but thankfully the group is back and literally better than ever.

The track opens with a mesmerizing drum riff that instantly sets the tone for the rest of the song. The dreamy vocals add a layer of nostalgia, transporting the listener back to the heyday of the mid-2010’s. The intricate drumming and bassline add a steady rhythm to the track that keeps the listener hooked too. Says the band, “Like Grass” is reminiscent of the Captured Tracks era of the 2010s with bands like Wild Nothing and Diiv, yet they still continue to infuse these flourishments that bring it into a modern era. Cittàgazze has added their own spin to the genre and created a sound that is uniquely theirs.

The accompanying music video for the single is also a major treat for the eyes. The retro video game vibe perfectly complements the track, adding an element of fun to the song and displaying all the personality in the world to who they really are. The band has flawlessly created a complete audio-visual experience that sends the listener to another time and place. Overall, “Like Grass” is a beautifully crafted piece of music that is a testament to Cittàgazze's talent as musicians. The track is a perfect blend of nostalgia and innovation and is a must-listen for fans of indie new wave music.

Even better, it’s not even their most recent release either. We urge you to check out 2023’s “Hide”, but to go further and do more exploration into their quickly growing catalog. We’ve included the most important links below so that you can listen, follow along, and of course stay tuned for much more on the way.
