Based out of the UK, Chris Too Far is a singer and songwriter who’s gone a bold route and covered an extremely tough song, “Drivers License” by Olivia Rodrigo. Showing off his extremely dynamic vocals that get better with repeated listens, he’s also one upped himself with a slightly dreamier reimagining of the track that is sure to deliver all the goosebumps. If you loved the original, then you’re surely in for a treat once you hit the play button on this one.
One of the best ways we love to discover an artist is when they cover an artist that we admire. However, one of the most difficult aspects of it all is that worry that they could potentially fall flat and not pique the listener’s interest to go on and explore the rest of their discography. With that being said though, Chris Too Far legitimately impressed us in every facet of the song that has proved it’s not easy to just make the same thing that gave someone else success.
We can’t even begin to count the amount of times we’ve heard the original, but there really was something diverse about this version that reignited that initial love. Chris’ raspiness in the vocals, the atmospheric additions, and somehow even more passion behind all the delivery must be the special sauce that he’s infused. Without a doubt we know we’ll be listening over and over to the cover, but now that we’re aware he’s got more music, we’ll definitely be diving down the rabbit hole of his originals too.
At this point, there isn’t much else to say besides a resounding recommendation and urge to give this a listen.
