Casey Smith Project infuses eclectic styles on lead single, "Red Carpet"

Delivering his first single of 2022 titled “Red Carpet”, Casey Smith Project has begun the rollout of his all new record, Red Lights and Whiskey. Keep reading for an in-depth look at the single, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.

For those out of the loop on the Casey Smith Project, this artist has effortlessly infused together a wide variety of musical influences to ultimately create something unique of its own. As his newest record Red Lights and Whiskey begins to get teased, the artist has given us a taste of what’s to come with his latest, “Red Carpet”, an emotionally driven single that hinges on lyrical passion and inventive instrumentation. Sincerely, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed this song and are urging everyone out there to click the play button.

On the background of “Red Carpet”, Casey Smith has said, “I had an argument with someone; it sucked - I felt bullied and taken advantage of. Somehow I took the high road and managed to write a song about it. I also was struggling with being a better listener with my girlfriend at the time, who was also struggling to hear me. Why is it that every time it rains, it pours and feels all the same?

Written and recorded at Wattage Studios in Anchorage, Alaska over the past year and a half with the help of Chad Reynvaan, all collaborators on this project have undoubtedly hit the mark. Pulling inspiration from Mac Demarco, Modest Mouse, and more, what Casey Smith has done here is take so many elements of music and work them into something new. You’ll find tons of soul, glimmers of classic rock, and tons of modern motifs to really make himself stand out on the instrumental end. Of course the production is killer too, but where we found that the song shined the brightest was easily in its storytelling. Knowing the precise background helps, but even attempting to connect the dots with no context clues gives the listener an opportunity to piece the puzzle together.

With a slightly laid back vibe and more than enough going on to pique your interest, it really does have us interested to see how the rest of the record is going to shape up thematically. We’ll keep everyone posted, but for now please go ahead and check out the links below to listen, follow along, and to stay tuned for more news.
