Cagri Raydemir shares outstanding & innovative EP, "Shortage of Identity"

Stunning us with a cavalcade of complex rhythms and instrumentation, Cagri Raydemir has just shared a fantastic new EP titled Shortage of Identity. Keep reading for a closer look into the record, as well as a background on this talented artist.

On his whopping 17th record titled Shortage of Identity, the Munich, Germany-based artist known as Cagri Raydemir has shown zero signs of slowing down whatsoever. As a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and more, there’s simply nothing that this musician hasn’t been able to accomplish in his journey of creating art thus far. Starting out at the age of 13, playing in bands, and now focusing intently on his solo work has led up to this major release that we’ve instantly adored through our initial listen. We are highly recommending everyone click the play button as soon as possible.

Coming in at just four songs that span right around fourteen minutes in length, Cagri immediately thrusts the listener into this sonic world of ingenuity, innovative atmospheres, and an intensity that can’t really be measured. On the first song “Distorted View About Oneself”, the artist sort of lures you in with these interesting arrangements that are anything but normal, but in a way that is still approachable. The music itself we suppose could be identified as “rock”, but there’s so much experimentation going on within the production and soundscapes, it’s basically crafting out a niche of its own. Once the first track finishes, the EP opens wide with a slew of sensual and ear-screeching guitar solos on “Unscripted Surrender” that left us in a positive frenzy, fiending for more to come.

The closest thing we’d be able to link this to might be Radiohead or some elements of Muse, but truly, the music of Cagri Raydemir has quickly proven to 100% be its own thing. With 17 records under his belt, we can’t wait to do a deep dive on everything else. As for the rest of the EP though, we also feel the need to enthusiastically mention the diversity and utter range in his vocals, they’re beautiful, suspenseful, and haunting all at the same time. They almost act as another instrument in the mix and there’s no real way to avert your gaze or focus anywhere else. Honestly, this album is seriously fantastic and we can’t wait for everyone to listen.
