Bobby Murray hits the high notes on debut track, "Moonrock"
All set for its official release on July 9th, 2021, Bobby Murray is gearing up to share his powerhouse debut single, “Moonrock”. Read on for our in-depth look into the track, as well as an analysis of the artist behind the music.
Moody, atmospheric, and 100% a vibe, R&B songwriter Bobby Murray has just let loose his debut single “Moonrock” off his upcoming Ep release. Influenced by the likes of Billie Eilish and likeminded artists, this single is jam packed with soul and passion. As an artist, this was our first introduction to Bobby Murray, but we will certainly be back for more after our multiple listens!
Exploring a “covert aggression” on this track, Bobby Murray takes the listener on a musical journey that drugs may take you on. Featuring a handful of heavy synths and light feeling vocals, this listen is like being in a dream in outer space. Slightly unsettling in the best way possible at times, the production from start to finish here is nothing short of amazing. Our suggestion here would be to listen on the best pair of headphones or soundsystem you have in order to not miss out on the silky subtleties.
Considering that Bobby Murray is a life long pianist, he’s using his instrumentation skills to carve out his own niche of innovative music. Citing Stevie Wonder as his key influence, we’re incredibly excited to see the slew of single releases that follow this on the way to EP. While we’re not quite sure yet what context the rest of the record will be in, this was definitely an eye opening experience into the life and persona of a talented musician.
What we loved the most about this track is the immense amount of diversity in sound and tone. Starting off with a slow fade in, introducing a serious message, and ultimately pleasing the listener with complex instrumentation is everything you could want and hope for from a debut. While we don’t think Bobby would hit us with the best first, it’s going to be a difficult challenge to one up “Moonrock” as it’s a track that has become instantly memorable to us. With that being said though, we are highly suggesting you dig in once it releases on July 9th. For now, you can pre save it below so it’ll be available on release day.
