Birdeatsbaby transcend genre on stellar single, "Illuminate"
Marking another major teaser before their new record releases, Birdeatsbaby have continued magic once again on their single, “Illuminate”. Please keep reading for a closer look into the track, in addition to a much needed background on this emerging band.
Filled to the absolute brim with inventive instrumentation and a display of dynamic vocals, we instantly fell in love with all facets of Birdeatsbaby’s newest musical endeavor, “Illuminate”. Feeling suspenseful, dramatic, and a bit eerie at times, it’s honestly fitting that this specific track is being released on Halloween. Truly, we can think of no better way to ring in the holiday than with multiple listens of this complex composition, which is why we’re urging everyone out there to hit the play button immediately.
With their new album HEX on the way, this is serving as the second single release before the record’s big day. In a similar vein to the lead single “Ribbons”, they’ve directly infused this with a cavalcade of unique ideas and a seemingly endless list of instruments present. Combining together guitars of all sorts, cellos, bombastic drums, and those vocals that will certainly send shivers down your spines, it’s the ideal combination of everything. At a little over five minutes in length, the track fully has this ability about it that feels like it’s constantly expanding, growing, and shapeshifting all at the same time. It doesn’t happen immediately, but by the final notes you’re immersed in this world that the group has etched out for you.
Somewhere between Rock, Metal, with many cinematic elements present, a major standout has to be the production as well. With help from Paul Reeve (Muse) and John Fryer (Depeche Mode), they really put the cherry on top to a song that would have been fine standing on its own. With that being said though, it’s taken the track from a 9 to a resounding 10, bursting at the seams with creativity and a reignited love for this specific sound and style. As HEX gets closer to its official release, we’re hoping for more teasers like this, but will undoubtedly be listening once it’s shared in full.
For now, treat yourself to a listen and follow along with the band to keep up with all major updates. Enjoy!
