Bby Blue previews "Never Smile" off his forthcoming full length record
Keeping things short and sweet, the solo project of Bby Blue has delivered once again with a killer new single titled “Never Smile”. Please read on for our full review of the track, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.
From the mind of Bowen Hardcastle comes the music of Bby Blue. As a multi-instrumentalist who does everything from the drums and guitar all the way to the production and mastering, his latest endeavor called “Never Smile” has shown off his greatest strengths and capabilities. We’ve loved every moment of this lighthearted track and confidently think everyone out there will too.
Influenced by the likes of EarthGang, Prince, Nirvana, Mac Miller, and so many more, those inspirations come through in his music as a whole, but the artist leaves plenty of space to add his own signature songs. Previewing this track off of an upcoming album slated for 2022, this served as the ideal introduction to Bby Blue’s music to really get a grasp for his diverse and eclectic sound. As you can imagine, you’re going to happen upon an immense amount of genre influence and sampling, but it ends up working so well as a cohesive mix.
At just a tad over two minutes in length, the only real “complaint” we have about “Never Smile” is it ends just as quick as it starts. You immediately get sucked in with all that’s going on and the song grips you with twists and turns that are seemingly endless. While this artist is clearly a talented instrumentalist, the production techniques, effects, and overall arrangement here are what stood out to us the most. It’s actually kind of crazy to decipher all what’s going on in just two minutes.
As mentioned, this was our first foray into the music of Bby Blue, but he’s completely surpassed our expectations for what we expected. With the full length album coming out soon enough, we’ll absolutely be carving out all the time to make sure we give it a focused and concise listen. The music he’s making in our eyes is meant to be replayed, purely based on the fact that no human could make all those connections in one primary listen.
Enough words for now though, go ahead and do yourselves a favor by checking out the links below in order to listen, follow along, and stay tuned for everything that’s on the way.
