Bambey bares it all on lyric-forward EP, "Cease"
Delivering inventive lyricism and a top tier production, Bambey has knocked it out of the park on his newest EP, Cease. Keep reading for a closer look into the record, in addition to a much needed background on the artist.
Through raw and overly descriptive lyricism, Bambey has left nothing to the imagination on his newest EP, Cease. Giving the listener a peak into his personality and seamless flow from beginning to end, he’s imparted a smooth production that tends to be on the minimalistic side, but for great reason. Honestly, this was our introduction to the artist and his music, but ultimately he’s left us feeling hopeful for more releases. We’re highly recommending you kick off your journey with a nonstop listen of Cease.
It hasn’t been for a lack of positivity or life gains, rather Bambey has taken the listener on a path of his “dark turmoil” and not held back anything in the process. Speaking on deep themes that cover his family, cutting him off, and more, Cease does an impeccable job of breaking down his struggles through 6 songs and nearly 18 minutes of run time. So much of what we enjoyed about this listen is the melancholy sound and aura that the EP exudes. A ton of artists out there like to juxtapose the negativity with upbeat instrumentation or gimmicky production effects, however this goes to the dark side and allows for everyone to sit in and make themselves think. It obviously leans heavily on stories, but it’s the way that Bambey delivers his lines that makes all the difference in the world.
We mentioned minimalism yet we mean that in a positive way that highlights the absence of absurdity, which is exactly what this EP deserves. Pointless additions tend to distract from the focus, so we’re partial to the artist and his creative direction to end with something like this. Each song could be listened to as an isolated single, but where Cease shines the brightest is in an uninterrupted listen from start to finish. While we patiently wait for more, we’re urging everyone out there to give this a listen.
