Ashlyn Marie crafts out of this world single, "So High"
Further expanding her sound and discography, Ashlyn Marie has hit back with her third single, “So High”. Keep reading for a closer look into the track, as well as a much needed update on the artist.
It’s been nearly five months since we last covered Ashlyn Marie on her single, “Domino Effect”, but since then she’s continued to flourish as both an artist and performer. For those out of the loop on Ashlyn, she’s a country and pop artist originally from Simpsonville, South Carolina. With a robust background in music and singing, this newest song is actually a collaboration through a TikTok connection with producer, sam!am. Together the two have explored new sounds and the final product has surpassed all of our wildest expectations.
While the song is certainly a departure and pivot from what we’ve heard previously, we’re still accepting “So High” with wide open arms and it’s sort of crafting a new era and space for Ashlyn. Combined with a borderline trippy production and space-like effects, one thing is for sure, she didn’t lack on the lyricism in the slightest. On the background of the song, Ashlyn claims, “I took the idea of being high on substances, and related it to the feeling of being head-over-heels in love with someone”. It’s essentially an ode and origin story to how she met her current boyfriend and is about as sweet as can possibly be once you make the connections within the song.
Though she’s penned herself as a “crossover” artist, this veers towards a new avenue that brings in glimmers of R&B and the darker side of pop. “Domino Effect” absolutely had an edge to it, but she’s taken what worked so well on that track and amplified it to the next level. Her soaring vocals have the listener hanging on every syllable being delivered while the atmospheric elements literally make you feel like you’re floating on a cloud through its 3 minute runtime. If this is a futuristic look into what we can expect in the future, then consider our hype levels at an all time high! We confidently feel that Ashlyn is right at the cusp of a turning point in her career, so please do yourselves all a favor and hit the play button as soon as possible.
