Anniee shares her anthemic new single, "Gnatcatcher"
Released just last week on February 26th, 2021, Anniee has made a swift return in the form of an emphatic new single, “Gnatcatcher”. Do yourselves a favor and read along with us as we share an insight into her music, in addition to a refresher on this blossoming artist.
In case you forgot, Anniee is a singer and songwriter based in Montclair, New Jersey in which she experiments all over the map in terms of genre. Lending her stellar vocals to the likes of classical, fok, rock, jazz, and more, Anniee dares to bring her best on every piece of art that she creates.
“Gnatcatcher” is an alternative rock power ballad that has completely overwhelmed every sense in our body. Reminiscent of some the best bands in the genre, the artist’s staggering vocals have surpassed every single great moment of instrumentation featured on this four minute single. Lyrically, she’s exploring “the sense of being ‘lost’ and the desire to be truly known and seen”.
So the story goes on the origins of “Gnatcatcher”, the idea came from a friend of hers who told her about the endangered bird that wanders the sage scrub of Southern California struggling for survival. “Gnatcatcher” is a song about the power of friendship and connection in an often lonely world.
Just like our last piece of coverage on Anniee in which we covered her also amazing single, “Take Me Away”, we’re beyond in love with this newest piece. Not only is the song divine in every sense of the word, but it deserves a live audience to be played in front of. Instrumentally the band has hit every right note. The massive booming of the drums, shredding guitars, and just the way that her voice overpowers even the loudest parts of the song are paramount to needing to see it in person. We feel that “anthemic” would be the describer here, mainly because it’s not too difficult to imagine an audience attempting to sing it right back to her.
However you’d like to word it, this singular performance was star-like. Not enough positive things could possibly be said in just the contents of a track review, truly it would just be impossible. Honestly it should go as no surprise that we’re urging the reader to stream this song. Alternative rock lovers are going to eat it up, but at the least, it just requires a general music fan to appreciate what’s happening here. For now, give it a listen, and enjoy!
