Angel Quintas' debut album "Self-Portrait" gets a full examination - Interview
The time has finally come! After loving each and every one of Angel Quintas’ singles leading up to his debut album, Self Portrait, we had no choice but to bring back the artist back onto the show and podcast. Watch our full interview below.
Here with one of our favorite albums of the year, Angel Quintas has made his return to We Talk About Music to talk all about his recently released debut, Self-Portrait. For those out of the loop though, Angel is a singer and songwriter currently based out of Orlando, Florida. Handcrafting wonderful songs in the style of pop with alternative influences, the record certainly delivered and surpassed all of our expectations.
Fans of David Bowie, Arctic Monkeys, and Harry Styles are going to love this for sure, but it also featured many nods to The Beatles that will be able to spot as well. Digging in yet again with the fantastic conversationalist that is Angel Quintas, you’re truly in for a treat as we continued down our path of the artist’s processes. Hearing all about his post album release emotions was certainly a treat, but his plans for the future certainly piqued our interest as well.
Just like last time, we’re going to highly recommend you dig into the interview to get the true insight on the conversation from the source himself, however the real priority here is to check out Self-Portrait. At a 27 minute run time from start to finish, Angel swiftly and openly tells his contextual stories that are up for interpretation, but has communicated them in a way which are truly beautiful.
One of our favorite parts of the entire listening experience was the fact that it didn’t need to rely specifically on isolated singles to carry the listener from song to song. It was a true cohesive listening experience that is best listened from clicking play on the opener and title track “Self-Portrait” and listening through to “Love”. There’s peaks and valleys on the way to the end, but honestly, it’s an immersive experience and a highly impressive debut from a blossoming artist. It’s got us beyond excited to see what’s on the way in years to come, but as a base, we wouldn’t change a thing. Listen in and enjoy!
