Amber Ais shines bright on modern single, "Ordinary"
Atmospheric and honest in her latest musical endeavor, Amber Ais has blown us away with her retro-sounding single, “Ordinary”. Read on for our in-depth review on the track, as well as a background on this talented artist.
Keeping her silky smooth vocals right up front, Amber Ais has done the difficult job of expertly blending sounds of the past with a futuristic and inventive flair. For this Boston-born singer and songwriter, she’s quickly mastering the art of Indie Pop, but in a way that’s easily setting her apart from the competition. There’s so many decade spanning influences that find themselves creeping in on “Ordinary”, however it’s still such a new sounding song.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music with a degree in songwriting, Amber has absolutely been putting that to the best use possible and staying wonderfully consistent in her releases. As this is her first release of 2022, we sincerely hope that more is on the way as soon as possible. We’ve yet to do a deep dive on the rest of her discography, but after falling in love with “Ordinary” quickly, it won’t be long before we dig into the rest.
Focusing on this single though, we really do want to focus on how delicately she’s infused sounds of the past. Her music for the most part has a strong pop base, however there are glimmers and shining moments of R&B that add such a nice complexity. On the instrumentation end, the addition of the 80’s inspired synthesizers were probably the best stylistic choice this song could have featured. They stand out in the best way possible to further differentiate. Overall though, Amber’s vocals obviously peak at the forefront to set the tone and deliberately add a sense of style that can’t be replicated. From start to finish, this is a song that has no flaws, seriously.
For now, we can’t wait for everyone out there to give this a listen as soon as possible! We’ve included all the important links below in order to listen, follow along, and to stay tuned for what’s certainly going to be her biggest year yet. Enjoy!
