AJ Wirth channels a soulful sound on latest single, "Colours of Love"

Released last week on September 17th, 2020, AJ Wirth has released yet another hit single in 2020 with the debut of “Colours of Love”. Read along with us as we share our thoughts on the song, as well as a refresher on AJ since the last time we spoke.
Not too long ago, we reviewed AJ’s most recent single “What’s Left To Say”, which you can read HERE. Back again and with a shift in sound though is “Colours of Love” which we’re absolutely adoring. Before we fully get into it though, we’d like to give some background on the artist.
Raised in a small town outside Toronto, Canada, AJ was always drawn to the art of poetry and music. Unable to pursue her dreams within the entertainment field due to being raised within a religious cult, she spent years collecting artistic expressions in hopes of one day sharing her gifts with the world. After a spinal injury, and years of studying Neuroscience and personal development, AJ was able to identify the untruths of her belief system, and chose to leave behind all family, friends, and the only community she ever knew, for her dream-achieving purpose she'd always known.
With musical inspiration anywhere from the light of Diana Ross, the spoken word of Jill Scott, and the soulful vibe of Erykah Badu, AJ has combined an identifiably unique and captivating sound of whimsical soulful pop! Speaking of music and soul, “Colours of Love” has exactly what you’re looking for if you enjoy any of the artists listed above.
With an opening of a classical piano that slowly brings in the angelic vocals of AJ Wirth, this single is definitely a step in the right direction as far as the artist’s sound is concerned. While “What’s Left To Say” was more of a single within the pop genre, this is certainly bordering the lines of R&B, soul, with glimmers of dramatic undertone.
While the instrumentation starts out strong and within the forefront of the sound, it slowly takes a backseat as AJ comes fully into frame. The mixture of subtle snaps, introspective lyricism, and calming atmosphere makes for potentially the artist’s most compelling track yet. As mentioned, we absolutely love the sound that was created here and would love to see more of it in the coming future. Like any good artist, we’re sure that AJ takes her time when creating, so we’re definitely not in a rush for the next iteration of her music to come.
