Adria Kain reimagines her debut single, "Ocean (Reprise)"
We can’t believe it's been 6 long years, but a reimagining of Adria Kain’s classic “Ocean” has just dropped! It’s called “Ocean (Reprise)” and we can’t wait to tell you about how simply amazing it is. Read on for our full review.
What arguably kicked off Adria Kain’s musical career has now gotten the reprise treatment with an updated version that is heavenly. For this Toronto-based artist, the last 6 years have been life changing in so many ways, but what has stayed the same is her consistency in music making. If you thought you loved the original “Ocean”, you’re going to fall even more in love when you check out the updated version.
Blending together the sounds of the sea with a little bit of outer space making its way in, this soulful R&B single centers right around Adria’s silky vocals that are bursting with passion. Mixed in with spoken word passages and a strong message present throughout, it’s the ideal precursor to her newest album coming this January. It’s titled When Flowers Bloom and needless to say, we’re thrilled to the highest degree to give it a spin once that fateful day comes.
On the background of “Ocean (Reprise), Adria Kain made a statement saying, “It’s beyond me how this song came full circle. I remember where I was in life when I first wrote it years ago. I knew it was a good song, not quite my favourite, but it had an important message that I think even went over my own head. I wrote it from a place of sadness. I wanted to create a voice for myself. One that I could run to whenever there was no one else. One that would create a platform big enough for me to exist in without boundaries, like the Ocean, because what’s bigger than that really.”
Now the obvious thing to do here would be to check out the original and new version, then compare side by side. For us, it’s quite unbelievable the massive improvements in nearly every facet of the song. Adria’s vocals continue to mature in a breathtaking way, but the production value has gone up tenfold as well. We’re not saying the original is something to dismiss, however like any good artist, she’s made huge strides in the overall artistry and it so clearly shows on this output.
Do yourselves a huge favor here and get into this song, as well as the old. It appears that there’s more on the way too, so definitely check out Adria Kain’s social media links below to stay tuned on what’s coming.
