Aaron Matthew debuts his deeply personal and relevant new single, "Alone"
Review by Austin Sher
Released yesterday on August 28th, 2020, Aaron Matthew has put forth his deeply personal new single, “Alone”. We loved what we heard! Please do yourself a favor and read along with us for our review of the track, as well as background on the artist.
Aaron Matthew is a US born indie musician, yet he is currently based out of the Dominican Republic. As a multi-instrumentalist songwriter, he's crafting meaningful music designed to shift listeners into the new conscious paradigm. At this point in time, we don’t think it’s possible for there to have been a more timely and current song to be released.
“Alone” is an intimate acoustic track that sounds as if you mashed up the likes of Bob Dylan and Jack Johnson. It speaks directly to our current situation of pure isolation and social distancing. It’s no surprise here that the song was born out of being in the situation. What you’ll hear is Aaron’s soft acoustic guitar work, subtle drums, yet a sense of wanderlust especially within the lyrics and atmosphere created.
Like any song, the first impression typically comes from the artwork for the song. It makes it even more hard hitting when the visual matches the feeling of the song, and in this case, it’s a perfect match. If you’re reading this and have spent any time within the past 6 months dealing with self-isolation, this is the song you need to have on repeat. Although it’s slightly sad in nature, it does make you feel like you’re not going through these feelings alone. You’ve got a friend in Aaron who’s experiencing the same things you are, except in his case, he’s created an exceptional single to go along with those emotions.
Calming songs like these are a must for us these days, especially when it’s relatable. Enjoying “Alone” so much allowed us to dive into Aaron’s discography, which is also quite impressive. If you like what you heard here, there’s no reason not to go back and listen to the rest. His 2019 EP, Bend, was quite a beautiful listen as well. Us being suckers for all things guitar makes it all so easy to love.
With all this being said, it’s about time you stopped reading, and started listening! If you like what you heard, make sure to let the artist know. For all things Aaron Matthew, to listen to “Alone”, and to stay updated with all future releases, please check out the following links below.
