7KY & Avonlea collaborate on silky smooth single, "Terrible Things"

Expansive and atmospheric from beginning to end, 7KY have simply blown us away with their latest track, “Terrible Things”. Please keep reading for a closer look into the track, in addition to a background on the artist.

Released by independent record label Good Society, 7KY is back at it with a lovely new single titled “Terrible Things” that features the silky smooth vocals of Avonlea. For those unfamiliar with the artist though, he’s a Las Vegas-based producer, composer, singer, and songwriter that’s specializing in his so-called “alien-like piano ballads, psychedelic [op and EDM-centric music”. This was our introduction to the artist, but as mentioned, has completely impressed us with this new offering.

On the background of it all, ultimately “Terrible Things” is the story of two free spirits having an out of this world night. As it goes deeper in their lyricism that certainly isn’t lacking, it’s not going to become a surprise that our attention was focused way more on the production and density of the mix. Seriously, you’d be doing yourselves a major disservice if you didn’t listen to this on a nice pair of headphones. It’s like you’re floating through outer space and 7KY is curating your experience. With the pairing of both of their vocals though, it’s as melodic and heavenly as you could possibly imagine.

The only real “complaint” we have about our listen is that we felt it was a tad too short, coming in at just a little over two minutes. However we suppose as an artist it’s always a plus to leave your audience wanting more, which is why we’ve literally listened over and over to attempt to capture that initial rush we felt hitting the play button for the first time. Through swirling rhythms and even what we might call an homage to dream pop, 7KY has really put his best foot forward in composing something that we’d love to hear more of in the future. Thankfully he’s got plenty more music under his belt, which is why we’ll undoubtedly be doing a deep dive into the rest of his discography.

For now though, we’re urging everyone out there to give this a spin! We’ve included all the important links below to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with everything else on the way.
