Pond's Nick Allbrook Breaks Down "9", Recording Process, & Pre-Concert Rituals

As our excitement for Pond’s newest album 9 reaches absolute all time highs, it was a complete treat to get to sit with front man Nick Allbrook and get to explore everything surrounding the record. Watch our full interview below.

If you happen to be out of the loop on Pond, let us kick things off by letting you know they’re legitimately in our short list of favorite bands of all time. These Perth, Australia psychedelic rockers are made up of Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson, Shiny Joe Ryan, James Ireland, and Jamie Terry. Together they’ve consistently been pumping out some of the most sound bending, whizzing, and fresh music of the last decade.

Without giving too much away, because we’d much prefer for you to check out our interview with Nick, our discussion surrounding their ninth full length album gave away the perfect amount of information. Having listened to the record in full many times prior to its release, we can directly let you know that they haven’t skipped a beat and are continuing to explore and expand their sound. On their released singles so far like Pink Lunettes, America’s Cup, and Toast, the band have clearly shown them changing it up, however some of the best tracks by far are saving themselves for release day.

Speaking of release day, 9 is all set to come out on October 1st, 2021, which at this point is about a month and a half out from this being published, but don’t worry because we’ll make it loud and clear once it does get shared. In the meantime, we highly suggest checking out the singles for this record to prime yourself for what to expect. With that being said though, if this is really your introduction to Pond, not only are we jealous but you 100% need to start from the beginning. For starters, you must check out Man It Feels Like Space Again and The Weather, they’re 2 revolutionary albums that fully encapsulate everything the band is about.

Not to harp on too much at this point, but getting to speak with Nick was a dream come true and we sincerely hope you hop on the bandwagon. Without a doubt, Pond are the most underrated band doing the biggest things in music right now. Let’s hope that 9 continues to put them on the map in a way that blows them up into the mainstream.
