New Music Friday - Week of 6/12/2020

Article by Austin Sher

Can you believe it? We made it, again, to another New Music Friday! This week was absolutely jam packed with new albums, singles, announcements, and so much more. As we close out yet another week in this wild and unordinary world, music continues to be something to look forward to.

When every week after next makes it seem like the planet is spiraling out of control, there are few constants that are left in the world. One of those constants, is that with great anxieties, comes incredible music and art from artists across the globe. Everyone is finding an outlet for themselves during these times and without a surprise here or a surprise there, there isn’t really too much to do, if you’re playing it safe that is.

Not to get too dark and emotional here, this is a happy day afterall, but we’re living in unprecedented times that require a soothing presence and a loving hug at the end of the day. I mean wow, even just writing these articles that no one reads has been an incredible outlet and experience through it all. I’ll go back one day and read all the New Music Friday’s that I wrote during quarantine, along with all the releases, and most likely be astounded as to what I was thinking.

Focusing on the music for now, which we should have been from the start, there’s so many worthy releases this week that I know I’ll be spending my weekend glued to Spotify streaming it all. One in particular is Jay Watson’s aka Gum’s Out in the World. This is a record that I’ve been looking forward to for a while now. Anything Jay Watson influenced or produced immediately grabs our attention. He’s a musical genius, why wouldn’t you be following his work closely?
