Wondrland Festival Dazzles with Eclectic Lineup Across Its Inaugural Event
Wondrland Music Festival was nothing short of magical. Smaller acts including Brock Davis, Paige Fish, Benjamin Taylor, Bleu Grave, Branson Merchant, Caysen Wright, Obeeyay, and F!shbowl opened up for the headliner: Clinton Kane. The location for this event was the Shri Shri Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah. The mountains behind the stage were such an incredible peek-a-boo to highlight the natural beauty of the venue.
Due to this being a festival created by and geared towards high school and college audiences, I was expecting audience members to talk and socialize during the event, but during Clinton Kane's set there were many individuals who seemed like they had never been to a concert; They were loud and very disrespectful towards those who had put so much effort into the preparation of the festival. But this crowd sure knew how to hype up the artists during their sets by coming close to the stage and using any excuse to jump and start a mosh pit.
The artists chosen for this event all had incredibly strong skills in one way or another. Whether that be rasp from Paige Fish, high notes from Brock Davis, or any other technique to make themselves standout. Fans who came to support these artists were very kind and respectful towards their personal space and needs. The artists took pictures with their fans and were also respectful to the staff and those who oversee the venue.
Given that this location is a temple, they asked artists not to swear and for alcohol to not be permitted. Clinton Kane was a little upset about these rules, and those who have been to a concert of his know why: his lingo and personality offer many excuses to add swearing to his humor and lyrics. Getting around this was difficult for the artist who inevitably ended his set with the song “Go to hell”. Audience members were asking him to perform the song throughout his set to which the artist responded, “we’ll see” alluding to being a part of the setlist but debating on how much trouble he could get into for disregarding what was asked by the venue operators.
The event not only had performances by the artists mentioned, but also provided magic acts, psychics, thrift shop pop ups and other brands, jewelry booths, food & drinks, and much more. Though artists sets were delayed for technology and other issues, I look forward to seeing what other events come from YNG DMB in the future.
For any event’s first year, things typically never go to plan, however the base has been set and sincerely we’re looking forward to future years! The talent across the board was phenomenal, sound was great, and ultimately it was a fantastic way to spend the weekend!
