Turnstile Serve Up Endless Energy at No Values Festival 2024

Even before the start of the set, the energy from the crowd felt like a leaking pipe ready to burst. This would be my second time seeing the band Turnstile and the same feeling followed over from my first experience. As soon as their first song hit “ T.L.C. (Turnstile Love Connection),” The pipe burst. The energy from the crowd was unlike any set I saw that day; with the majority of the sea of people compiled to what seemed to be mostly teenagers and adults in their mid-twenties, it felt like I was in the middle of something special.

Everything was turned up to its maximum settings. The circle pits were bigger, the crowd surfing was more frequent, and the stage presence was energetic and almost hypnotic; Turnstile had arrived and let it be known. I would like to think lead singer and frontman Brandon Yates felt the same way; with very minimal crowd work and conversations, he let his music and emotions behind them do the talking. As my time in the media pit ended and I made my way to the middle of the crowd, I could feel the direct connection the band had to their audience and how captivated the crowd was by every word and note they played.

With every song they played, the crowd just kept getting more and more energetic and passionate. You could tell that the band members themselves felt this energy, bassist Franz Lyons never stopped interacting with the crowd and even pointing out and smiling at the fans that were going the hardest. Their set ended with one of their biggest hits, “Mystery,” And as the California sun set on both their time and horizon, Brandon made his way to the front of the barricade, separating him from fans and personally thanked every single person he could lock his gaze with.

It is safe to say Turnstile was a highlight of the No Values Festival and gave everything it had to its fans. Go ahead and check out our full photo gallery below to relive the set!
