Afrojack & Steve Aoki Join Together For An Energetic EDC Orlando 2023 Performance
Afrojack (Nick Leonardus van de Wall) is a Dutch producer and DJ. He began teaching himself how to play electronic music at 11 years old and by 18 he had released his first single titled, “In Your Face.” Now at 36, he is one of the most recognizable names in the electronic music industry, with seven music labels, billions of streams and constant headlining spots in festivals and tours worldwide. According to Forbes Magazine, he is the seventh highest-paid DJ in the world.
Steve Aoki (Steven Hiroyuki Aoki) is an American DJ and electronic music producer who has been active in the music industry since 1996. Steve Aoki is a producer veteran with countless features from the biggest pop stars in the world. Not only does he collaborate with American artists like Linkin Park, blink-182, will.i.am, and Paris Hilton, but also many international artists like Natanael Cano, BTS, Angela Aguilar, and MKLA. Steve Aoki and Afrojack have been collaborating for years in the studio and in live shows. They coined the duo name Afroki after releasing a collaborative track in 2014 sharing the name. The two are close friends and an impressive duo on stage.
In classic Afroki fashion, the pair brought wild energy to the stage. They played a collection of hip hop and rock remixes that had everyone dancing. Some highlights from their 77-track long performance were their take on Linkin Park’s “Numb,” which in the electronic music festival setting doesn’t make sense, but it fit so well with their blends of techno behind it. Also, some bass-heavy remixes of “I Love It” by Charli XCX and “All My Friends Are Dead” by Lil Uzi Vert.
They closed their set with remixes of “Work Hard, Play Hard” by Wiz Khalifa and “I’m Good” by Bebe Rexha and David Guetta. Their music choices were quite interesting because they didn’t go with songs they necessarily produced, but songs that they knew would keep the crowd energized and surprised. Afroki is a legendary duo who should definitely do another joint tour together.
