Corona Capital 2021: WWAM's Full Festival Recap
As first time festival-goers to Mexico City’s Corona Capital, we can confidently say we’ll be returning and getting our tickets as soon as the next lineup drops for 2022. Over the course of two days, some of music’s best acts got together for what felt like multiple intimate performances with stage productions that just kept getting better. If you’re on the fence for next year, let this be the festival recap that convinces you.
On our first day of the festival, we were lucky enough to get amazing spots to see Bleachers, Khruangbin, Cheap Trick, and the almighty headliners, Tame Impala. While each set certainly had its own energy and set of wild fans, we felt we made the right choices in who we saw. Every band brought their best, played with heaps of energy, and ultimately made our trip down to Mexico City worth every second.
Putting the music aside for even just a moment, the actual festival was as smoothly run as we could’ve hoped for. Getting to bathrooms around the event space was never a concern, there were seemingly endless places to get delicious foods or drinks, and once the nighttime hit, the lights lit up the racetrack. The sights and sounds of the festivals and how everything was setup was on the par of as exciting as the music was. The design team clearly put a lot of thought into pleasing everyone here.
Not that we ever had any concerns about attending, but all aspects of the festival really did blow our mind in regards to the attention to detail. As lovers of indie music and electronic acts, the lineup for Corona Capital, not even just this year, continues to expertly blend music’s biggest acts with an impressive undercard worthy of exploring on playlists. That’s where we felt Corona Capital has exceeded the most and what will definitely keep us coming back as long as they’ll have us.
With all that being said, you can probably tell there’s zero negatives on our end, and that we’re super excited for next year. To stay up to date with everything else on the way, make sure to follow Corona Capital on their social media for everything new.
