Blonde Redhead Perform to a Sold Out Crowd at Austin's Levitation Festival

It’s been 9 years since the popular alt-rock band released a studio album. Blonde Redhead, consisting of  Kazu Makino and twin brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace, have been touring supporting the long awaited release of their 10th studio album, Sit Down for Dinner.

The trio faced a sold-out crowd of devotees at Mohawk in Austin. The energy in the air was charged up  as many long-time fans anticipated which of their favorite songs they’d hear.  Amedeo’s unique vocal sound was unmistakable when they finally burst into song with “Falling Man”. Joy  filled the room as the band jammed through a loaded setlist.

Kazu commanded a fantastic stage presence, full of energy as she danced along to the rock symphony  they were creating. Fans could tell that they were pouring every ounce of spirit into the performance.  New favorites from the new album “Snowman” and “Melody Experiment” excited listeners with their  catchy hooks and unique spectral melodies.

Blonde Redhead ended the set with a myriad of their classic garage-rock tunes including some of our  personal favorites, “Spring and By Summer Fall” and “Maddening Cloud”. But the ever-polite crowd had  different plans—we were treated to a three-song encore following the epic extended outro to “23”.

The band ended the night with synthy lullaby “Kiss Her Kiss Her”, leaving the crowd time to catch their  breath and reflect on the night.

Overall, this was an incredible set performed by one of the classics in alternative and psych-rock. We  highly recommend catching Blonde Redhead in concert if you are able to before it’s too late!
