Alok’s 2023 EDC Orlando kineticFIELD Performance Was Packed With Dance Pop Bangers
Alok was born in Brazil to two DJ parents, Swarup and Ekanta, who instilled in him a love for electronic music since birth. They created the electronic music festival in Bahia and invited him every year. He started his music career at 10, by 12 he was DJing in public. Alok slowly worked up a reputation as being one of the best dance DJs in the world. He was awarded Best DJ in Brazil in 2014 and in 2015 he was named DJ Magazine’s #4 on the Top 100 DJs list. He has since produced many Billboard 100 tracks like “Love Again” and “Hear Me Now.” Alok is the perfect DJ to play the main stage at EDC because of his ability to pick exactly what songs will get the crowd dancing.
Some of his most popular remixes get played in clubs around the world every night. Alok is the mastermind behind the “Astronaut In The Ocean” song going around TikTok to this day. He also remixed Dua Lipa’s 202 hit “Physical” and long-awaited release “Living In a Ghost Town” by The Rolling Stones. It goes without saying his music genres have a wide range, but he always gets the listener to dance along.
Because his set took place after sunset, there were much larger fireworks displays that hyped up the crowd and amazed even those outside the festival grounds. I understand why he chose to wear sunglasses at night. Throughout Alok’s set, the crowd doubled not only because of the intense pyro displays, but because of his spot on music taste.
He opened his set with Crankdat’s “Pickle,” which produced many screams from the crowd. As the set continued he played club hits like “Rhythm of The Night” by Felguk, KVSH and Yass, David Guetta and Sia’s “Titanium,” and Lewis Capaldi and David Guetta’s “Some Titanium You Reload.” All of the songs he played were easy to sing-along to and fit into the party atmosphere. Overall, EDC made the right choice putting Alok on the main stage because he brought in a huge crowd that needed the space to dance.
