Levitation Room's Psychedelic Sounds Take Over The Troubadour
Saturday night at one of the most legendary Los Angeles venues, The Troubadour, and it instantly became a perfect homecoming venue for local LA psych rock band, Levitation Room. We were there up close and personal to experience the event, so please enjoy our full review, and attached photo gallery below.
After just returning back home from a European tour, Levitation Room was back and ready to vibe with the home crowd. We’ve seen Levitation Room a few times now and this riff-rocking, psychedelic sound machine of a band never disappoints. This show in particular was a sensory treat. Levitation Room has a sweet psychedelic sound that ranges from swaying love songs like “Friends,” a track from their 2015 debut album Minds of Our Own, to more rock and roll social commentary songs like “Pass it On.”
Gabriel Fernandez, the band’s lead guitar player, began the show on an electric twelve string guitar giving Levitation Room textures to their riffs that sound so uniquely their own. That coupled with lead singer Julian Porte’s soothing voice and mystical melodies really give Levitation Room such a powerful foothold in this ever-growing realm of psychedelic rock. In addition to the music, Levitation Room has a cinematic touch to their performance visuals with a projector flashing multi-colored patterns and trippy googly eyed characters on the background and onto the band.
The band utilized the visual space really well allowing us in the audience to fully immerse into the mind altering experience of the performance. This show was the second of a three show California run that the band just finished up. Levitation Room played a new song in the set so we can only hope that there will be a new album coming soon. Make sure to check out Levitation Room for a groovy listen and keep your eyes open for what this awesome band will do next.
