Husbands Jam It Out at Los Angeles' Moroccan Lounge
It's Sunday night at the Moroccan Lounge and although the venue is in the east part of Los Angeles, we feel like we're at the beach with Oklahoma City surf rock band, Husbands. Do yourselves a huge favor and enjoy our full review and photo gallery below of the night’s event.
We've been fans of Husbands since the release of their album, After the Gold Rush Party in 2020, so this opportunity to see them play a live show has been long overdue. After playing the second year in a row at Boise music festival, TreeFort, Husbands continued over to the West Coast meeting us at the Moroccan Lounge for the final show of their tour.
Husbands is an Oklahoma City surf rock duo led by guitar player and vocalist, Danny Davis, and guitar player and vocalist, Wil Norton. We love the Husbands’ sound for their uniquely reverbed and rich harmonies, their classic surf inspired guitar tones, and their accessible, poetic lyrics. For this tour, the band played as a full 5 piece band allowing them to play all the parts for their unique style of Fender-led surf tones with synth pads and melody lines unique to their style.
The group played an eclectic set of songs ranging across all three of their full length albums. The show opened with “Try Not To Worry” from the 2020 album, Wayne John. This seemed like a fitting choice as this was the song that initially sparked our Husbands fandom. Besides some of the older songs, Husbands played some of our favorites from their most recent album, Full on Monet, including “Must be a Cop” and “Garth”. If you are unfamiliar with the band, we recommend deep diving into all of their work. If you missed this tour, try not to worry because Husbands will be hitting the road with Goth Babe, playing across the whole US this summer.
