girl in red Mesmerizes During 2 Night Stand at LA's Greek Theater
girl in red’s North American tour made it’s stop at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles last night. In celebration of her sophomore album, I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!, released earlier this April, fans rushed to purchase tickets, resulting in back to back sold out performances. Fresh off of supporting Taylor Swift in “The Eras Tour”, the Norwegian singer-songwriter’s renewed energy is unlike anything we’ve seen from her before. After three years post-release of her debut album, Marie Ulven Ringheim (girl in red) is back and better than ever.
Opening the show with her album’s powerful title track, DOING IT AGAIN BABY, was a perfect choice as fans’ screams filled the venue. Marie’s signature sincere nature was mixed with a newly found confidence that made it impossible to draw your eyes away from her. The transparency displayed throughout her discography, exploring themes ranging from mental health breakthroughs to lesbian romance, she has proven herself time and time again to be a staple artist to the queer community.
The evening began with The Beaches, a queer Canadian rock band from Toronto. Their energy was unmatched as they celebrated their admiration for girl in red with the fans that passed out pride flags to line the barricade. In matching “BLAME GIRL IN RED” t-shirts, this group had fans on their feet the moment they hit the stage. The chemistry between these four captured my attention, and I left the venue with a new favorite band.
100%, this is a live show like no other pulsing with energy and passion galore. If they’re ever in a town or city or near you, don’t hesitate to grab a ticket as soon as you can!
