The Leeward Fits share their uplifting Americana single, "The One to Come Between"

The Leeward Fits are back with their classic Americana song, on their latest single, “The One to Come Between”. Join us as we give an in-depth review of what we thought of the song, as well as a bit of background on the band.
Although this particular song was written several years ago, what you’re hearing is the re-imagined and re-recorded version that we’re absolutely loving with each and every listen. The band itself is made up of Alex Schmidt and Timothy Zick, who regularly come together to create their unique and complex sound. Schmidt being based out of San Antonio, Texas and Zick being based out of Omaha, Nebraska, the two have found a way to collaborate and keep the rocking up. According to the band, “This collaborative relationship has allowed me to develop an exciting and kinetic platform for fostering unconstrained and original music, even while at times on opposite sides of the globe”, Alex explains. “I just want to share the human experience through music with as many people as possible, and hopefully spread some happiness among like-minded people”. Like the majority music listeners, creating that connection and evoking reactions out of those listening to your work really does make it feel like all the work was worth it in the end.
We’re particularly fond of this genre of music, as these days it seems like it’s quickly becoming a lost art. Immediately when listening to “The One to Come Between” for the first time, the bass line is what hooked us. It was so subtle yet kept us intrigued throughout the track. As the classic chord progression began and Schmidt’s voice entered, we were hooked. Considering the song is about 3 minutes long, the replayability on it is extremely high. It immediately went onto our summer playlists, because every summer day needs a bit of Americana music in it.
Overall, the instrumentation on the track was quite diverse and we really appreciated the gliding piano sounds we heard as well. Schmidt’s voice was obviously the standout here, as the instrumentation could only be as strong as the voice leading it. To be perfectly honest, we didn’t know what to expect when checking out The Leeward Fits, but every expectation we had was blown out of the water. This was a super enjoyable experience and track that we’ll continue to listen to for the foreseeable future. Additionally, we plan on keeping up with the band’s next moves and we hope you do as well!
