Joseph Washbourn creates endless suspense on newest single, "Silver Screen"

Currently based in the UK, Joseph Washbourn is consistently testing the limits with what’s possible within his growing catalog. Absolutely outdoing himself on this effort though, he’s just shared an all new single called “Silver Screen” that’s seemingly jam packed with endless emotions, soaring instrumentation, and his expressive vocals. It all comes together to create something memorable and downright moving, which is why we’re overwhelmingly recommending it for everyone to listen.
With an ultimate goal to “hark back to those big orchestral ‘story’ songs of the 70’s”, Joseph has done just that in infusing so many styles and motifs into one succinct song. Coming in at just a hair under five minutes in length, immediately as the opening notes hit, you’re immersed into this atmospheric world of suspense and drama. You can feel this artist’s influences, heavily inspired by the past, but he does you one better and manages to suck you in through vivid lyricism as well. On the background of it all, he aims to highlight the “cautionary tale of broken dreams and the dramatic repercussions of one man’s impossible pursuit of stardom”, hence the title “Silver Screen”. It’s an all too relatable subject for those struggling to reach specific goals, but by the end of the song, there’s no doubt you’ll feel ties to the main character.
Putting the message aside though, this really is a massive feat in composition and instrumentation. A recommendation here would be to enjoy this with a nice pair of headphones, as the orchestral moments pop so much more as they wash in and out of the mix. The grand soundscapes and almost film-esque feeling that “Silver Screen” gives off, there’s no doubt in our minds you could place this song in the most dramatic moment of a movie and it would elevate the tension astronomically.
