Staying consistent as ever on another fantastic EP titled Heartsick.., Drey Viloria is continuing to capture moments of his life within beautiful music. Please read on for an in-depth look at the record, in addition to a background on the artist.
Currently based out of Gloucester County, New Jersey, Drey Viloria is already a prolific musician at just 22 years old. Crafting together an inspired mix of Hip Hop, R&B, and so many other genre influences, his latest effort Heartsick.. is an amalgamation of sounds, styles, and everything he’s put out this far. Undoubtedly it’s mighty strong within the lyricism, but it also gives the listener a needed glimpse into the struggles of the artist. Without a doubt, we can’t wait for everyone out there to give this a listen.
Covering themes ranging from the daily grind, his religious faith, and so much more, it’s ultimately a compilation of songs that recount memorable moments over Drey’s past year. We all experience ups and downs through our life, but what this artist has done in terms of showcasing his talents in the process puts him on the next level of artistry. Speaking directly on the production, the EP throughout the listen has this certain cohesiveness about it in the flow and its tone. What we mean is that although each song has its own atmospheric elements and memorable moments, you feel like you’re sucked into the album experience which is unfortunately becoming a lost art. Drey’s attention to detail here in the track listing delicately lays out chronological tidbits of his life, all the while keeping a vibrance within the instrumentation.
At only six songs, spanning right around sixteen minutes in length, it’s a bite size listen that doesn’t overstay its welcome and honestly makes you want to dig into more. “Wished U Was Wit It” serves as a perfect opener to give the listener a taste of what’s to come, but the record doesn’t really peak right up until the end. Truly, Drey’s lyrical delivery feels like the highlight, but we’re positive that different listeners will pull their own moments to come back to. If anything, it’s an ideal gateway into the rest of his discography which is growing rapidly with multiple releases per year. We’re extremely excited to see how he follows this one up in the coming months!
