Zach Goldfinch details his genre-expansive record, "MY/ND: Catharsis" - Interview
Fusing up so many genres into his wonderful new album titled MY/ND: Catharsis, we got the extra special opportunity to sit and speak with the visionary behind the record, Zach Goldfinch! Take the time and check out our interview below.
Currently representing the music scene in Sydney, Australia, Zach Goldfinch is putting together a seriously eclectic mix of music that resembles folk, jazz, blues, pop, and more. His debut album MY/ND: Catharsis has been nothing but an amazing listen on multiple listens through at this point, but the total treat was getting to sit and speak with Zach all about the record that 100% deserved a full explanation.
On the background of the album, Zach mentioned that “it’s all about getting things off your chest and releasing”. He’s made himself incredibly vulnerable and is discussing things that he normally wouldn’t mention in his music. The authenticity, passion, and ultimately intimate conversations with himself have come out. As impressive as the actual album is in regards to the instrumentation and production, the songwriting here really is top notch from start to finish.
We’re always quite taken back when we learn that an entire album of songs was put together by just one person. That goes the same for Zach Goldfinch, everything you’re about to hear came from the mind and talents of one person. Additionally, he actually hosts a podcast of his own where he details the writing processes of albums with other musicians, so we bet there’s a pretty good chance if you check it out that he speaks even more on the album.
Without giving too much else away, we want to suggest once again that you take the time out of your days to listen to MY/ND: Catharsis. It’s really a wonderfully cohesive and well thought out record that you can legitimately feel the love come through in it. So much work and dedication has been put forward!
With all that being said, you can listen, follow along, and stay tuned for everything new coming from Zach Goldfinch by checking out the important links below.
