With such a quick turnaround in releases, it’s barely even a surprise that the quality has managed to stay so high! Read along for our full review of Yuriy Usatyi’s latest project, Pulse of Life.

Prepare to be taken on a psychedelic journey as composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist Yuriy Usatyi changes your life with his all new record, Pulse of Life. With a visual album paired to the audio side of the record, this independent artist has completely taken us by hold here. Filled with a mix of guitars and synthesizers, it’s like listening to music in outer space, we love it!

Split up into 9 separate acts, spanning just about 37 minutes in run time, this is a true sonic exploration that deep dives into a vast psychedelic world. We got some much needed insight from Yuriy, in which he said, “ The higher a bird flies, overcoming the force of gravity, the more complete a picture of the world becomes with all his colors, the more she becomes free and happy in her flight. She sings a song of heaven, her heart is filled with joy. She is free in her flight, breathing with freedom of the skies, the sun is reflected in her eyes, her heart fills with these skies with every breath and every beat of her wings”. His quote goes on to continue to explain the background of it all, but we still think the music speaks just as much.

Using complex rhythms, an array of instrumentation, and keeping things sans vocals, Pulse of Life is the type of record that deserves a full and uninterrupted listen. You might want to be sitting down here as there’s a lot to grasp. Honestly, even though we’ve listened through in full once already, we couldn’t help but be floored and want to hop right back in. For starters, it’s a dense listen that features plenty of moments of complicated patterns, but the overall production screams that it’s a real masterpiece.

As lovers of all things psychedelic and experimental, we can’t help but absolutely recommend you dive in and give it a listen as soon as you can. It feels like the type of listen that should be checked out at night with mood lighting. We’ve done the easy part and provided all the necessary links below in order for you to dive in and listen. You can also check out the rest of his works on his YouTube channel!
