Hot off the release of his newest record titled MiddKnight, we got a special opportunity to sit down with Y-S to talk all about the project. Watch our full featured interview below!

Brandon Floyd, who is much better known as Y-S, was an absolute treat to speak with and he opened up all about his stellar LP, MiddKnight. For this Cleveland-based multi talented musician, he’s turned his innermost thoughts into shining beauty on the album. Filled with a top tier production and staying on the cutting edge of Hip Hop, he’s managed to infuse so many genres into one complete sound. Let us give you the heads up right now that this is 100% an album worth checking out.

Not only is Y-S doing an unbelievable job promoting his own music, but he’s doing a huge service to the community in the collective he’s started. It’s called CMR (Cleveland Musix Regime) and he’s elevating the voices of countless deserving young talents in his hometown. Not only can we expect bigger and better things from the artist himself, but we have a confident feeling he’ll be supporting others in his hometown who are also doing big things.

Without giving too much away here, because we sincerely want you to check out the interview and listen to MiddKnight, what this musician has accomplished here is seriously transcendent. We spoke about it in length during our conversation, but getting the background on his musical influences, it fully makes sense that the album turned out the way it did. You’ll have to listen for yourself, but this isn’t a standard “Hip Hop” record, it’s so much more than that on a deep and complex level.

At right around 23 minutes in length, what we enjoyed probably the most on the record was its cohesiveness from start to finish. This isn’t a record to be jumped around and listened to randomly, everything was placed methodically in order to provide the listener with a unique listening experience. As the music industry leans toward single releases, we particularly love the full adventure of a record that delivers from start to finish just like this.
