Young Nicky impresses on his knock out debut EP, "Versatile"

Seattle based artist, Young Nicky, has officially released his debut EP, Versatile. What a fantastic listen! Read along with us as we break down our thoughts on his latest record.
While the EP was released last year in 2019, it still holds up to this day. At just four songs long, spanning a total of twelve minutes, it’s everything you could possibly want in a straightforward hip hop record. While it might be straightforward in a sense, it definitely borders on experimental, while keeping things quite interesting throughout its entire run time.
As mentioned, at just four tracks long, Young Nicky manages to keep the intensity high and the quality of the record high as well. There’s no room for mistakes when you keep it short like this, mainly because there isn’t enough to dissect. With that being said though, we were certainly impressed with how Versatile came out. For lack of a better describing word, the artist was absolutely versatile in terms of how he crafted this piece of work.
Featuring layers of vocal effects and a steady flow, we honestly are hoping for a full album filled with tracks just like these. Clearly the artist knows what he’s doing and seeing as the EP was released last year, we’re crossing our fingers a track, EP, or even a full record are on the way. In no way would we ever want to rush an artist into churning out work, but we just enjoyed it so much, we’re hoping for more.
If we haven’t made it clear by now, we’re highly recommending and suggesting you take the time out of your day to take a listen. At only 12 minutes, there’s nothing to lose and only so much to gain. For those into hip hop, and even those who aren’t, this is the album you need in your life to make your day so much better. Listen closely to the lyrics though, Young Nicky is witty and punchy with his delivery, he takes the listener on a ride you won’t want to get off of.
