On the band’s fifth overall single called “Fucking My Friends”, there’s truly no way you won’t immediately fall in love with this output from Uncle Strut. Do yourselves a favor and please read on for our full review of the track and a background on this emerging band.

Currently based in Vancouver, Uncle Strut are consciously aiming to bring a newfound edge and vibrance to the genre of Rock and Roll. On their newest single titled “Fucking My Friends”, they’ve masterfully combined the catchiness of a pop track and one of the most replayable choruses we’ve heard in quite some time. Plain and simple, we love this song and we know for a fact everyone with ears is going to feel the same.

Released on Valentine’s Day, there isn’t really a better title of a track that we could think of in this case. Striving to become “the love song of a generation”, you may think they’re joking, but there’s a solid chance of that possibility considering the lightness of it all. We’ve got a feeling that these individuals don’t take themselves too seriously, but honestly, they’ve proven on even just one song that they’re all talented in their own right and know how to masterfully compose a solid indie rock track.

While the rest of their music embraces a nice blend of Rock, Funk, and Psychedelia, this one sort of felt like an outlier compared to the other four tracks. We’re not saying that’s a bad thing at all, because it shows the breadth of what they’re capable of. In fact, we appreciate a band like this who can keep things loose and aren’t scared to make a statement with a song that a majority would think is unorthodox. If anything, it gets the people talking about the proposed ridiculousness of it all. The thing is, they’ve got a quickly catchy song to back up any possible backlash.

In our eyes and ears, this one’s a true hit. Our only “complaint” would be that it’s a little on the short end at two and a half minutes, but there’s nothing wrong with listening to it a couple times to try to chase that dragon. We highly suggest everyone out there give it a listen as soon as you can. We’ve included the links below to listen, follow along, and to stay tuned for what’s undoubtedly going to be a huge year from Uncle Strut.
