Ultrafox unveil the background on funk-filled debut LP - Interview
For all the real music lovers out there, do we have a total treat for you today! We got the opportunity to speak with Jimmy Karamanis of Ultrafox all about their jazzy and funk-filled debut record. Watch our full interview below.
Currently representing the Montreal music scene, Ultrafox have legitimately put out one of our favorite records of the year titled Ultrafox. Effortlessly blending together a wide array of genres like jazz, electronic, funk, and synthwave, this album is sure to put a smile on your face and get your blood pumping from the opening track on. Even better, we spoke with Jimmy Karamanis all about the inner workings of the record plus so much more.
Made up of six extremely talented individuals who all just graduated from Concordia University’s Jazz program, which is also where they all met, they’ve created somewhat of a super group in which the music they’re making is divine. It really can’t be overstated how much we’ve enjoyed this record as it really is the type of music we like to consume in our personal time. Getting to hear all about how it came together, who plays what, and generally just having a pleasant conversation made for a fantastic time.
Speaking directly on Ultrafox though, at 7 total songs spanning just around 30 minutes, this is the type of record you could switch on at a moment’s notice whether you need some light in your life or just want to plain have a great time. We like to put an emphasis on the “fusion” side of things here because you’re seriously getting a little bit of everything on each track. Knowing that the band is planning on experimenting in the future with some ideas they’ve presented on some of the songs is more than enough for us to keep ourselves posted on what’s to come.
Not to give too much away here, because obviously we want you to listen, our suggestion would be to jump into this record with no prior knowledge other than it’s a true delight. You should check out our chat too because Jimmy was straight up a fun guy to talk to and an even more talented musician.
