Tyler Garrett debuts colorful full length LP, "Morning Star"
Out today on June 22nd, 2021, Tyler Garrett has made a swift return with his astounding album release, Morning Star. We are loving it! Read along with us for our full featured review of the record, as well as a background on the artist as well.
Los Angeles based songwriter and vocalist Tyler Garrett has taken a wide variety of musical influences and successfully infused them into one of the most original albums we’ve heard in a while, titled Morning Star. Just like the album cover, this record is colorful, bright, innovative, and put legitimate smiles on our faces. Right off the bat, this is something we’re highly recommending.
Classified as electronic pop with a twist, this South Carolina born artist has pulled influences across the spectrum of music to build a unique sound. Morning Star is genuine and you can legitimately hear the joy from track to track. Following up his 2020 EP, Potential Love, we confidently feel that this was the obvious evolution in where we thought Tyler’s sound might be headed, however, he has left the listener to find new surprises and has further expanded the production qualities that we loved so much on the EP.
From posting YouTube covers to full length albums like this, it’s been a real wild ride to go through Tyler’s discography and audibly decipher the differences in his overall sound. With the help local LA producer AFTRMKT and a collaboration with Jeriqo, his reach is expanding month over month.
Now for the actual album itself, we really don’t want to give too much away obviously, but for the electronic lovers out there, this is going to be your record of the summer hands down. There were plenty of standouts for us, but the production and vocals were the very clear standouts. Hearing the positive differences in quality from the EP to the LP was a huge plus, but the production here really cannot be overstated. Listening on a nice pair of headphones or sound system should be mandatory as there’s too many subtleties you may miss out on otherwise.
