Back at it with their first new single of 2021, Tricky Susan have done it again on their incredibly impressive track, “Grab”. Do yourselves a huge favor and read along for our complete thoughts, in addition to a background on these talented musicians.

Currently representing the London music scene, Tricky Susan are an indie rock band made up of Camilla (vocals), Don (guitar), John (bass) and Val (drums). Bringing an enveloping sound of powerful instrumentals, a signature attitude, and striking vocals, we couldn’t help but instantly fall in love with everything we heard on “Grab”.

According the band on the origins of the song, “Grab is focused around the feeling of continuously giving and waiting for our love to be seen and appreciated; those moments when you’re so desperately in love that you are willing to wait, and keep on waiting, for whatever minuscule, lacklustre token of love, that might eventually come your way.”

With the UK gig scene hopefully opening up sometime this summer, not only are the band excited to get touring again, but it’s really songs like these that deserve to be played live in front of an engaged audience. Specifically on “Grab”, the band have managed to immediately hook us with their catchy bass lines, booming drums, and that aforementioned vocal delivery that is just begging to be heard.

At a little over four and a half minutes in run time, Tricky Susan’s demeanor and the way they’ve carried themselves on the track is full of confidence. Following up their 2020 self-titled EP, which we’ve now listened to and loved, the evolution of their overall sound isn’t anything too wild, however you can still hear the maturity and minor tweaks the group has made in order to solidify themselves as a leading voice in rock music. Maybe we’re just suckers for a powerful female-fronted band, but it doesn’t hurt that she’s got the vocal chops to back it all up.

While we’re based out of Los Angeles, the new hope and wish here on our end is that we can witness this, and everything else they’ve got, live. With so much emotion oozing out of their sound, this is surely a band we’ll be following and keeping up with as they release subsequent singles.

For now though, our sincere suggestion is that you get listening to “Grab” as soon as possible. You can also follow along with the band’s social media by clicking the links below. Enjoy!
