Showcasing her dynamic vocal range on top of a semi-orthodox pop production, Tricia Lo has left us nearly speechless after our multiple listens of “Cursed By Your Love”. Centering this poetic story around a “deep feeling of love and desire for someone who isn’t good for them”, she’s handcrafted an extremely well rounded track we’ll be coming back to for years to come. Without a doubt, this is a song and an artist you shouldn’t be missing out on.
Influenced by the likes of Bishop Briggs and Imagine Dragons, Tricia Lo has still managed to carve out her own musical niche that legitimately sounds like nothing we’ve heard. While the song is obviously under the umbrella of pop, she’s incorporated so many genres into the mix that will undoubtedly attract musical listeners across the spectrum. The song left us feeling moody, empowered, and with the sudden urge to check out everything else she’s released thus far.
So much of what we enjoyed about “Cursed By Your Love” was the slow build to an epic climax to close everything out. The instrumentation builds on the opening notes, but ultimately Tricia’s vocals are what drives the suspense and emotion of it all. She gave us this power to focus solely on each line delivered, all the while being able to jam out to the little production flairs that were present too. There’s so many emphatic moments just in this singular track that it’s almost difficult to keep up with.
Without giving too much else away, because the main goal is for everyone out there to listen, Tricia Lo has proved to us she’s as legit as it gets. We can only hope that 2022 is going to bring more music just like this and we’ll anxiously be awaiting whatever else her name gets attached to.
