Here with his debut album titled Better Late, Timothy J has accomplished something truly prolific with this release. Please read on for our full review of the record, as well as a background on the artist.

Based out of Calgary, the man behind the music is Tim Cambridge, who has just let loose a collection of songs that are all passionate and bursting with enthusiasm. Perfectly primed to play in a live setting, all of these songs are emphatic in the way they’re presented and have only gotten better with repeated listens. If this is your introduction to the music of Timothy J, you’re going to fall in love with Better Late

At 10 total songs, spanning right around 40 minutes in run time, the album plays like a story that’s slowly unfolding into the final climactic moments. Filled with imagery-laden lyricism and really putting an emphasis on the songwriting portion of the record, it almost takes a backseat to the powerful vocals that lead the charge from the start. Of course one of the first things you’ll make a connection with is Timothy's unique sounding delivery, but in a positive way, it really has made him stand out from the pack and put a spin on what a typical rock record should sound like.

Instrumentally speaking, there’s so much happening all at once in the best way possible, yet it all seems to happen in unison. Nothing is out of place, everything was mixed and produced expertly, and it continues to pique the listener’s interest as the record goes on. Some standout tracks were definitely the title “Better Late”, but we’ve also had “Rescue”, “Invisible”, and “Last Sad Song” stuck in our heads from our initial listen.

It should almost go without saying, but there’s something really special happening here, and you’ll quickly realize it within the first few tracks. This was a forward thinking and progressive album that should set precedents for the future on how things should be done. While it feels like the album experience has become a lost art, that’s where Better Late steps in and reaffirms it’s not. Don’t miss out on this fantastic listen!
