Infusing an incredibly complex mix of genres and styles, Tilda Allie has won us over with the release of her newest song, “Say No”. Read on for an in-depth review of the track, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.

Currently based out of South East London, Tilda Allie is a Swedish music producer, vocalist, and visual artist who has just shared easily one of the most experimental yet cohesive songs we’ve heard this year. It’s called “Say No” and honestly after having listened through a few times now, she takes you on a spiritual journey through inventive rhythms, her dynamic vocals, and a seriously diverse set of instrumentation being used. We truly loved it and are urging everyone out there to click the play button as soon as you can.

With her self-produced EP slated for release on November 9th, she’s teased her devoted following once again with something that’s shaping up to be completely special. On the background of it all, Tilda has stated that this song is about “finding back to your authentic self, it mirrors the frustration anxiety brings out when we don’t love ourselves, constantly saying no to who we are”. In a world that focuses on perfectionism like ours, it’s songs and strong themes like these that elevate the meaning into another realm. We wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment and recommend listeners to connect the dots further in the lyrics that she’s formed. While your attention might be shifting all over the place due to the wild ride that “Say No” will take you on, the lyrics are still worth your time and attention.

Knowing that this was self-produced makes it all the more impressive as well. It’s a must listen with a pair of nice headphones, because the subtleties in the mix are mind boggling when listening closely, not to mention the lovely usage of sound and space. The song does feel like it’s rooted in pop, but with all the extra beautiful oddities attached and literal country-spanning influences, this is 100% something that will be stuck in your head. Listening once won’t do it justice either as there’s really so much going on it becomes difficult to absorb in the best way possible. Knowing that more music is right around the corner is exciting as well, which is why we’ll be keeping close tabs on Tilda Allie leading up to the big release.
