Switching up their sound for something a little more introspective, Third Way have stuck the landing on their newest EP, Priestess. Keep reading as we share our complete thoughts on the record, in addition to a much needed background on this project.

Currently based out of London, Third Way are a power duo made up of Xander Edwards and Paul Vilas, two dynamic artists who continue to complement each other on each subsequent release. Actively pivoting their sound from what you may have heard in 2020, their newest EP Priestess is an impeccably strong effort that features a masterful production, meaningful lyricism, and a continuous burst of energy. We’re highly recommending everyone out there click the play button on this beauty.

Fusing together a wide variety of genres like Soul and Pop, but ultimately rooted in an alternative Electronic production, Priestess is three total songs that encapsulate everything great about Third Way. So the duo has said, this record has headed towards a “more contemplative and downbeat energy than prior singles “Tides” and “Guru’”. On the background of them all, it’s an exploration into the experience of directionlessness and a sense of faith in the face of it”. If you take away the more outrageous moments that really make this record pop the most, it’s stripped back to a lyrically charged and thoughtful response to their inner dialogue. The duo put these ideas out there for simply anyone to connect to, all the while impressing beyond belief in every other facet.

Through the 11 minute runtime, we had many highlights and standout moments, but the crux of it all was us not wanting it to end! You can audibly hear the passion within the vocals and their cadence, but the attention to detail and their vision coming to life has to be the most freeing feeling on their end. To execute something special like this and make it feel genuine is a nearly impossible task, but that’s where Priestess shines the brightest. It’s two music lovers coming together to create something that exudes positivity, optimism, and looks towards a better and brighter future. We sincerely loved this listen and we think you will too.
