Further improving on her already stellar sound, the solo project of theworldisugly has just released her sophomore record, Dreams. Please read on for our glowing review of the record, as well as a much needed background on this artist.

From the mind of Amanda Serakowski comes an incredibly poignant, introspective, and outwardly beautiful sounding album called Dreams. Taking inspiration from some of her favorites like Taylor Swift and Radiohead, she’s still managed to create an absolute dreamscape of sound and atmosphere on her second full length. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our multiple listens and we confidently think everyone out there is going to feel the same.

Coming in at 10 total tracks, spanning right around 33 minutes, theworldisugly wastes no time at all throwing the listener into the deep end and introducing them to her dream poppy sound. As impressive as the production really is throughout Dreams, for us this quickly became a record that begs you to make connections within the lyricism. She touches on her emotional struggles throughout life and songs like “OD” and even the title track “dreams” do such a wonderful job of seamlessly painting that picture.

While the record does feature a couple collaborations from artists dark knight and B Baboo, ultimately we felt that some of the stronger songs came directly from Amanda. Not to discount the artist of course, but the complete passion that she opens up Dreams with was more than enough to be convinced to finish it out. Although we’re not 100% familiar with the rest of her discography, we’ve fallen in love so quickly with this that it’s now at the top of our priority list to give the debut a listen. Particularly, the production stood out so much in terms of tasteful vocal effects and the real atmospheric effects that make you feel like you’re floating on a cloud.

Without spoiling too much, we’ve really got no negatives or critiques to point out here. This is such a solid listening experience and really delivers as a whole. Sure, there could be singles to put on playlists for isolated instances, but truly the greatness comes when you listen in full. Do yourselves a big favor and please check out the following links below in order to listen, follow along, and stay tuned for more. Enjoy!
