The Vanities' "This Ain't Love" gets a remix from Jean Jacques Smoothie
Getting the remix treatment on their already stellar single “This Ain’t Love”, we’re loving this different side coming from The Vanities. Please read on for our review of the track, as well as a much needed refresher on these always vibrant rockers.
Straight from Cardiff, The Vanities are made up of Rhys Bradley (vox/guitars) and Adam Hill (bass/synths). Typically you can expect an electro rock sound coming from the band, but with the help of South Wales producer and DJ Jean Jacques Smoothie, he’s done a number on their single, “This Ain’t Love”. Cranking the beat up and creating some club ready, you’ll undoubtedly find yourself grooving to this song quite quickly.
We’ve come to love The Vanities’ music over the past few months, especially on our review of their single “London” and much more. Even better is the band are playing a one-off date at St. David’s Hall in Cardiff on Wednesday, March 9th as special guests to legend Tony Hadley for his 40th anniversary tour. While we obviously wish we could be in attendance, it’s quite far from us, however if you’re reading this and don’t have a ticket yet, what are you waiting for?
Anyway, this track “This Ain’t Love” is certified to bring the house down if played in basically any setting. The original is fantastic on its own, but let’s be honest, getting to hear a different side of the band’s vision on something out of left field like this was a total treat. While it’s simplistic in its nature and repetitive like any trance-like club track, that’s sort of where it shines. Our recommendation here would be to give it a listen back to back with the original to form your own opinions on the matter.
We can only assume that this is a fun in between track before either their next single or album, but it’s mighty fine to get any output from a group that’s been so consistent over the past year.
