The Vanities make grand return on stunning lead single, "London"
Having just released an all new single called “London” from their album 2001, The Vanities have quickly proved they’re back and better than ever. Read on for our full review of the track, as well as a background on the band.
Made up of Rhys Bradley (vox/guitars) and Adam Hill (bass/keyboards), The Vanities are an electro-rock duo from Cardiff that have been around since 2001. Clearly no strangers to music, they’ve put together something seriously special in the form of a new single called “London” that we’ve fallen in love with. Filled with lush instrumentation, emotional vocal delivery, and other surprises, we can’t wait for everyone to get their ears on this one.
Now while the band has been around since 2001, they’ve been on an indefinite hiatus since 2006, but thankfully they’re back to creating with so much more on the way. What they’ve done here on “London” is combine their equal love for 90’s grunge, 80’s synth-pop, and also infused a whole lot of originality in tone. Their influences surely come into play, but what they’ve delivered is a fresh sound that we can’t wait to hear more of.
What we do want to make clear here is that “London” is part of something bigger, their return to music with an album called 2001. It’s available via Bandcamp and ultimately tackles deep themes such as “love, war, madness, and mortality”. We’ve personally loved everything we’ve heard, but are looking forward to a front to back listen of the record. This newest single gave us a certain nostalgic feeling, so we’re hoping that the rest of the record delivers on that same style and atmosphere.
With that being said though, we’re beyond thrilled that The Vanities are back creating again. Clearly it’s been a long time coming, and we’d never want to rush art, but we’re hoping that creative streak continues into an even bigger 2021.
