With its official release coming on May 31st, 2022, we got the special opportunity to preview The Pourshot’s debut EP titled Introducing The Pourshots. We loved it! Read on for our full review of the record, in addition to a background on the band.

Consisting of Shaun Havoc and Scott David, The Pourshots are a Melbourne-based band that have put their own creative spin on Southern Rock and classic Americana music. Their debut EP is titled Introducing The Pourshots and it’s an engaging listen from start to finish that features plenty of homages to the past, but with a modern and unique take on the genre as a whole. With its release right around the corner at the end of May 2022, we’re urging everyone to give this a spin once the time comes.

On the background of the album, they’ve crafted the lyricism to highlight themes centered around “trucking, drinking, dancing, loving, leaving, and losing”. Each song embodies its own little story and atmosphere, but the consistent throughout Introducing The Pourshots is a fresh injection of passionate vocals, inviting melodies, and that vintage instrumentation that doesn’t let up for even a second. It’s always such an interesting time hearing members of other countries give their take on specific genres, and while we’ve experienced flops in the past, The Pourshots as a whole have gone above and beyond in creating something momentous like this.

Throughout the record, we found ourselves quite relaxed humming along to tracks like “Drinking Whiskey Tonight” and even gaining the urge to dance around to “Remember Your Name”. If there’s one thing the band has done correctly, it’s their variation in sound and style that shows their breadth as composers, not just talented instrumentalists. While of course we’ll be coming back to the record on release day, an overwhelming recommendation is for everyone out there to listen to this from front to back instead of skipping around. The EP tells stories, has a certain flow to it, but serves as a perfect escape and delivers a longing for the past.

In the meantime until May 31st rolls around, please do yourselves all a favor and check out the following links below to follow the band on their social media and keep up with all the latest news. Enjoy!
