Released towards the end of 2020, but still as entertaining today, The Monkey Butlers have put forward their truly unique EP titled Fools Like Us. We are loving this! Please read along with us for our full featured review of the record, in addition to a background on the group.

Based out of Birmingham, United Kingdom, The Monkey Butlers are an 8 piece rock band composed of all music students. Universally known for their outlandish performances around their local music venues, this two song EP is an amalgamation of their distinct sound that we’ve instantly fallen in love with. Do yourselves and give this a listen!

Featuring the band’s most celebrated live songs “It’s Just Like Sleeping” and “I Am The Man?”, this is probably the quickest way in existence to put yourself in an uplifted positive mood. According to the band, “these songs usually incorporated the audience and always had them screaming for encores. We aimed to catch the live-aspect in the recordings as a taster, before we set out on the road. And then covid happened…”

Listening over and over and over at this point, this is a live show that we 100% need to experience at least once in our lives. You can tell instrumentally that each and every member is incredibly talented on their own, but together, they’re creating memorable experiences for those who were able to catch them early last year. You’ll have to listen for yourselves, but the translation from recorded to live is as smooth as can be.

Now as for the music itself, it’s got the feeling of bridging the gaps between rock music and something that you’d witness in a Broadway show. Now we’re not quite sure if that’s because the lead man is so lively in his vocals, or if that’s just the way the songs are structured, but it doesn’t really matter because it just works so well. By the end of “I Am The Man?” your heart is pounding, you’re dancing along, and you’ve got the need to play it over again to just relive what you experienced.

Considering that it’s just these two songs that have been fleshed out and uploaded, the real hope here is that The Monkey Butlers are priming themselves for not only more music releases, but a return to touring as well. It appears that things are getting better in the UK (we hope at least), so making the trek out there would be a lovely thing to do in order to watch this happen. By then we really hope they’ll have more music out.

With that all being said though, please give Fools Like Us a chance, it’s literally a guaranteed good time! To listen and follow along, please click the links below.
