The Minties craft up a memorable new single, "Nullarbor"
With their first single of 2021, The Minties have absolutely blown us away with the release of their latest, “Nullarbor”. Read along with us as we share our complete thoughts on the track, in addition to a background on the band as well.
Currently based out of Sydney, Australia, The Minties have come together to bring us their “special brew” of Australian rock and roll. Taking influences from blues, funk, and so much more, the band has managed to inject their own unique sound into this latest single that we’ve quickly come to love. Filled with groovy bass lines, vintage vocals, and booming drums, this song is a winner.
While the band just released a killer EP at the end of 2020 called Light Me Up, they’ve shown to be resilient and are already back for more. We’re going to kick off this review by letting you know that this was our first foray into the music of The Minties, however, it certainly will not be our last. As “Nullarbor” was our first impression of the band and their overall sound, they’ve taken our ears by hold and quickly turned us into fans. We’ve already gone ahead and listened to everything they’ve released, and to no surprise, it all rocks.
As for this single, the obvious impression right off the bat was just how pure and funky that opening bass line was. As lovers of all things groovy, that was more than enough to pique our interests and immediately get into the rest of the track. As the rest of the instrumentation blossomed and eventually bloomed into a full on good time, we couldn’t help but think that there was something special happening.
We also need to speak on the vocals as well. While we’d describe them as falling under the indie rock genre, the vocals had a classically vintage feel to them that brought the song into another realm. Raspy, grainy, but oh so perfect in its conviction and delivery of the lyricism.
To be totally honest, it would be pretty difficult to pick out a glaring con throughout the entirety of the listen. It was original sounding and you can legitimately feel the happiness steaming off this song. It should go as no surprise, but we’re strongly recommending a listen to not only “Nullarbor”, but a listen to the rest of The Minties’ discography as well.
Now’s about the time that we’ll let the reader go and point them in the right direction of clicking the links below where you can stream, purchase, and follow along with the band. We know we will. Enjoy!
