Here with a fantastic debut EP titled, The Flyleaves EP,  is the one man band that calls himself The Flyleaves. Read along with us as we break down our thoughts on the record, in addition to some background on frontman, Cooper Hair.

As mentioned, The Flyleaves are a ‘one-man band’ created by 19 year old Australian, Cooper Hair. He writes, records, produces and mixes his own music all within the inside of his bedroom. He has loved music his whole life and has been writing music ever since he was a young teenager in high-school. As a self-taught drummer, Cooper wanted to expand his range of musical abilities and taught himself the bass guitar, which then progressed into wanting to learn how to play the guitar over the next few years. Along the way of teaching himself how to play these instruments, Cooper found interest in songwriting and set his goals to writing his own original songs. During the later years of high-school, Cooper wanted to go under an alias which then sparked the beginning and the creation of ‘The Flyleaves’.

All this time later and Cooper has finally put forth his compelling two track EP that we haven’t stopped listening to. At its base, it’s a fairly straightforward indie bedroom record that features a healthy dose of pop. Really though, Cooper has proved just with the release of these songs just how much potential he’s really got. Considering the runtime totals only about 7 minutes, it was still enough to tell that a full length album from The Flyleaves is definitely something we’d want in the future.

While we don’t want to give too much away because we’d prefer you form an opinion for yourself, we do have to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed what we heard. Both songs are certainly related in sound, however, each one has its own uniqueness and feeling. While both feature diverse instrumentation throughout, the real shining light is the way that Cooper carries his vocals. The lyrics tell a story worth listening to and the overall lightness of the sound compliments his voice in a beautiful way.

All in all, we’re highly recommending and encouraging you to take a listen, you won’t regret it. For all things The Flyleaves, to listen to the EP, and to keep up with all future releases and information, please check out the following links below.
