With his first single release of 2021, we’re beyond thrilled because one of our favorites, The Flyleaves, has just put out his latest titled “Find A Way”. Read along for our full featured review of the track, as well as a refresher on this fine artist.

For those out of the loop, The Flyleaves is the one man project from Australian singer and songwriter, Cooper Hair. Considering he’s a self-taught drummer, with each subsequent release, he’s aiming to expand his range of musical abilities by becoming a multi-instrumentalist. At this point, he’s quickly mastering the processes and his effort is clearly showing.

It’s been a little bit since we’ve covered The Flyleaves, but in the past we’ve covered Cooper’s previous self-titled EP and most recent album, I Don’t Know. Now the first thing we’ll say here is that we are absolutely loving this change in sound that is being represented on “Find A Way”. Right off the bat, this song was quite calm and relaxed from start to finish. It felt like a more classic version of  a singer and songwriter track, however Cooper kept things melodic and always beautiful within the guitar playing.

Whether this is an isolated single that was brought on by a spark of creativity, or part of something bigger, we would love to hear additional tracks that carry themselves within the same vein. This isn’t the type of overwhelming song that becomes too much with repeated listens, rather it’s got that chill vibe that’s super inviting in the sense that you just want to put it on repeat. At this point, we’ve got The Flyleaves’ music in our normal listening playlists, so this one is certainly going to come in handy as we continue to add in mood-specific music.

To be perfectly honest, this calmer side of The Flyleaves is something we weren’t quite expecting, but about a minute in is when we cozied up to it and things began to click. “Find A Way” is just another stunning representation of the diversity in which Cooper is shaping his music. Seriously, we’ll continue to be fans of this music and keep on listening as long as he keeps making it! For now though, we can’t help but overwhelmingly recommend a listen.
